Coaches

David Gill

David Gill - Coach

David Gill is a proud member of the Piekuakamiulnuatsh First Nation. For many years now, he has been an influential figure in the preventive health field, specifically for the aboriginal people. He has been invited numerous times as a guest speaker, sharing his thoughts in fields such as the importance of physical activity, goal setting, and high athletic performance. His reputation is mostly based on his experiences as a high level athlete.

With regards to his athletic career, David is specialized in track and field. His specialties are the 800 and 1500 meters. He has been a member of the Canadian national team for several years already, which has given him the opportunity to exert his passion in various parts of the world. Still today, he spends most his time working towards his ultimate dream, the Olympic Games.

   
David Laperrière

David Laperrière - Physical preparator

David Laperrière graduated from the Université Laval kinesiology program in 2002. From 2001 to 2005, he worked as a kinesiologist and private trainer in various conditioning centers, and was supervisor at the Université Laval kinesiology clinic. His main functions: evaluate the customers' physical condition and prescribe a safe and customized training program.

Moreover, David obtained his level II certification in the evaluation of physical condition and life habits (Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology) and was accredited as a level III trainer through the National Trainers Certification Program in 2003.

Because of his interest in the musculo-skeletal field, he pursued his studies in physiotherapy at Université Laval, which he completed in 2006. Since the summer of 2006, David evolves as a physiotherapist-kinesiologist in a major physiotherapy and sports medicine clinic.

   
Raymond Veillette

Raymond Veillette - Physical preparator (Planification of advanced programs)

Raymond Veillette is widely known for his experience in performance preparation. Since his debut, Olympians such as Jean-Luc Brassard, Mélanie Turgeon, many NHL players and numerous others have put their trust in him. For the past few years, he has been the physical preparator of the famous Université Laval Rouge et Or football team.

Ex-athlete, Raymond trained for many years in track and field. It is also in that sport that he acquired a large part of his high level coaching experience.

Raymond Veillette's mission is to provide athletes with the best training methods in order for them to develop the muscular qualities which are most specific to their own sport.

Physiotherapists

Blaise Dubois

Blaise Dubois - Physiotherapist

Blaise Dubois graduated from the Université Laval physiotherapy program in 1998, where he was awarded the prize for proficiency in the musculo-skeletal field. He then specialized and obtained a diploma in sports physiotherapy as well as the title of resident from the “Canadian Academy of Manipulative Therapy”.

Speaker, athlete and co-owner of the “PCN physiotherapie et medicine du sport” sports physiotherapy clinics, Blaise considers himself primarily as a specialized therapist working specifically in the prevention and treatment of running injuries. Consultant for the Canadian national track team, he has already participated in many international events, including numerous world championships.

   
Sean Cannon

Sean Cannon - Physiotherapist

Sean was a member of the Canadian national sprint canoe team from 1995 to 2001. Upon retiring from the sport, Sean entered the University of Ottawa Physiotherapy program. He graduated in 2005 and has since been working for “PCN physiotherapie et medicine du sport” in Quebec City. Sean treats athletes from a variety of different sports including rugby, basketball and volleyball and has become specialized in running injuries. Sean is also a consultant for the local sprint canoe and kayak national team athletes.

Nutritionists

Lucie Gonthier

Lucie Gonthier - Nutritionist

Lucie Gonthier graduated from the Université Laval kinesiology program in 2000, and from nutrition in 2003. Always willing to know more, she is currently registered in a 2nd cycle microprogram in functional health nutrition. Coach and athlete in triathlon, she supervises athletes with regards to both performance and nutrition.

She is also an active guest speaker as well as a private consultant. For many years, she has been involved with very varied audiences, going from athletes to elders. All of the above makes her a multiple-talented and passionate professional.

   
Virginie Lacombe

Virginie Lacombe - Nutritionist

Virginie Lacombe graduated from Université Laval in nutrition. In 2004, after completing her studies, she began practicing in hospitals, working with a great variety of patients. Her clinical specialty: severely overweight people.

On top of working with people having sedentary lifestyles, Virginie shows strong interests towards sports nutrition. Passionate about physical activity, herself being a multi-sports athlete, Virginie always tries to stay in touch with the latest findings in that field.

Psycho-motivators

Laurent Vicente

Laurent Vicente - Psychomotivator

Laurent Vicente graduated in physical education from the Strasbourg University in 1999. He then completed a doctorate diploma in psychology (DESS) at the Montpellier University in 2003. Always willing to share his knowledge and experience with other actors in the physical activity, sport and competition fields, he taught a course to students in the Université Laval sports intervention bachelor's degree. At the moment, he is also completing his formation in the Université Laval psychopedagogy doctorate.

Member of the champion French mountain racing team and of the Université Laval Rouge et Or track and field team, Laurent Vicente continues his quest for excellence by mixing together his passion for athletic competition and his academic objectives. Pulling the body up to the level of the mind is Laurent's fundamental approach in his work with athletes.

His involvement at the highest levels of the university research and of athletics fields, as well as his recently acquired title as a member of the “Ordre des psychologues du Québec”, make Laurent a specialist in psychological factors involved in motivation with beginners as much as with high level athletes .

   
Barbara Curkowicz

Barbara Curkowicz - Psychomotivator

Barbara Curkowicz graduated in administration from the Opole University in 2006. At that time she has also discovered a passion for social psychology, and began her second degree in that field in 2003 at the Warsaw School of Social Psychology. Her main interests are: psychology of emotions and motivation, and psychology of sport.

In the future, she is hoping to gain and develop her skills at her dream job – a psychology coach. She enjoys working with new people and is excited about all the new experiences that will help her achieve her future goals.
