When faced with a client who has <a href=\"https:\/\/timemanagementninja.com\/2012\/03\/10-reasons-why-you-do-have-time-to-workout\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">very little free time<\/a>, figuring out a way to add in workouts to an already packed and exhausting schedule can prove quite challenging, to say the least.<\/p><p>Overworked and rundown, these clients are often burdened by the idea that in order to reap any fitness benefits from working out, they <a href=\"https:\/\/www.12minuteathlete.com\/short-workouts-are-better-than-long-ones\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">need to have at least an hour a day<\/a> or more of free time \u2013 time enough to drive to gym, change into workout clothes, attend a session with a personal trainer or take a relevant class, and then time to shower, eat a recovery meal, and get back to work or head home to make dinner for the family, and so forth. <\/p><p>This belief has led them quite frequently to forgo any efforts at maintaining physical fitness whatsoever.<\/p><h2 class=\"\">HIIT Workouts Are Proven To Be the Solution<\/h2><div style=\"width: 810px\" class=\"thrv_wrapper tve_image_caption\">\n<span class=\"tve_image_frame\">\n<img class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"HIIT workouts\" src=\"http:\/\/www.totalcoaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/05\/HIIT-training2.jpg\" style=\"width: 810px\" width=\"810\" height=\"406\" scale=\"0\">\n<\/span>\n<\/div><p>I love working with clients like this,&nbsp;despite the obvious scheduling difficulties that such a hectic lifestyle presents. The reason? <\/p><p>These people \u2013 the busiest of the busy \u2013 can benefit so much from numerous studies (see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/23734250\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">here<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/24004639\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">here<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/22880097\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">here<\/a>)&nbsp;that demonstrate how significant fitness gains can be made in relatively short amounts of time, so long as that time is spent effectively and efficiently at a high enough intensity.<\/p><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_custom_html_shortcode\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">No time for exercise? These workouts are designed loosely along the same lines of <a href=\"http:\/\/well.blogs.nytimes.com\/2013\/05\/09\/the-scientific-7-minute-workout\/?_php=true&amp;_type=blogs&amp;_r=0\">The Scientific 7-Minute Workout<\/a> that appeared in Gretchen Reynolds\u2019 May 2013 fitness column in the \u201cNew York Times.\u201d<\/p><p>Here's an example of&nbsp;the 7-Minute Scientific Workout from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fitnessblender.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Fitness Blender<\/a>. Others incorporate some at-home pieces of fitness equipment that my clients have indicated they have available, such as an exercise ball, medicine ball, handheld weights, resistance bands, a jump rope, and so forth.<\/p><h2 class=\"\">3 Elements to Include in Every HIIT Workout<\/h2><p>All of these types of workouts share the following three elements in common: <\/p><p class=\"bold_text\">#1. They are short<\/p><p class=\"bold_text\">#2. They are intense<\/p><p class=\"bold_text\">#3. They aim to work all of the body\u2019s major muscle groups while raising the client\u2019s heart rate<\/p><p>This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thefeelgoodlifestyle.com\/high-intensity-interval-training-3-efficient-methods-to-lose-weight-rapidly-get-extra-fit-and-reshape-your-body.html\" class=\"\">HIIT&nbsp;\ufeffprotocol<\/a> can be used effectively for sport-specific workouts, too, making for a great way for time-crunched athletes to squeeze in an effective workout \u2013 or even two or three such workouts in a day, targeting different sport-specific areas. <\/p><p>Clients can choose to run through each exercise in the circuit one time for a quick but effective workout in 10 minutes or less.
