They should want to train, and they should want to be healthy and fit just like us, right?<\/p><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_custom_html_shortcode\"><blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-lang=\"en\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I want to inspire people. I want somebody to look at me and say \"Because of you i never gave up\".. <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Motivation?src=hash\">#Motivation<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Bzp8Mag5pU\">pic.twitter.com\/Bzp8Mag5pU<\/a><\/p>\u2014 Five Fitness\u2122 (@FiveFitness) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FiveFitness\/status\/749464702388871168\">July 3, 2016<\/a><\/blockquote>\n<code class=\"tve_js_placeholder\">[tcb-script async=\"\" src=\"\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"][\/tcb-script]<\/code><\/div><p>Well, I think it\u2019s important to remember that everyone is different and people don\u2019t always share the same passion for health and fitness as us coaches do. <\/p><p>Many people don\u2019t&nbsp;like training, but they know that exercise is good for physical and mental well-being, therefore, they want to train but they lack the same motivation we may have. <\/p><div class=\"thrv_wrapper thrv_tw_qs tve_clearfix\" data-tve-style=\"1\" data-url=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/intent\/tweet\" data-via=\"Total_Coaching\" data-use_custom_url=\"0\">\n<div class=\"thrv_tw_qs_container\">\n<div class=\"thrv_tw_quote\">\n<p>Your clients want to learn, but they also want to be motivated to do better and to achieve more!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"thrv_tw_qs_button tve_p_right\">\n<span>\n<i><\/i>\n<span class=\"thrv_tw_qs_button_text\">Click to Tweet<\/span>\n<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><p><span class=\"bold_text\">If these clients were self-motivated and loved training, chances are they wouldn\u2019t be hiring a coach or personal trainer <\/span>because they\u2019d be happy \"cracking on\" themselves as many people do. So, for those who are seeking personal training, there is a very strong likelihood that they not only need you to show them what they need to do, <a href=\"http:\/\/sourcesofinsight.com\/101-ways-to-motivate-yourself-and-others\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">they also need to be motivated<\/a> to do it!<\/p><h2 class=\"\"><strong>Do You Feel Burnt Out?<\/strong><\/h2><p>So that brings us&nbsp;to you, the coach. Is it really your job to motivate your clients? <\/p><p>Some of you will say, \"Yes!\" while other trainers may&nbsp;still be thinking that the client needs to share that responsibility. <span class=\"bold_text\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(239, 232, 88);\">We all know it\u2019s difficult to bring that motivating energy to all of your clients, every single session, every single day.<\/span><\/span> <\/p><p>As coaches and personal trainers, we are still human, we still get tired after long days, and it\u2019s difficult to be a \"ball of motivating energy\" at the end of a long day or busy week. Trying to motivate your least-motivated clients can be a quick path to burnout and dissatisfaction in your career.<\/p><p>So what's my solution?&nbsp;<\/p><p>The reality is that it\u2019s hard to be constantly motivating all your clients with the words you say and the energy you try to bring to your sessions. That's why I've found calisthenics training to be a crucial motivation tool. <\/p><h3 class=\"\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px !important;\">\"Unlike many other forms of training, calisthenics offers unique <a href=\"http:\/\/www.marksdailyapple.com\/extrinsic-and-intrinsic-rewards-or-what-really-motivates-you-to-be-healthy\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">intrinsic rewards<\/a> that can motivate your clients without placing such a burden on your shoulders.\"<\/h3><p>If you\u2019re new to&nbsp;calisthenics, wonder what it actually is, or think it\u2019s too difficult for your clients, check out the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.totalcoaching.com\/blog\/calisthenics-exercises\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">previous article<\/a> I wrote for Total Coaching that will answer all of your questions.<\/p><h2 class=\"\"><strong>How Will Calisthenics Training Motivate Your Clients?<\/strong><\/h2><p>Calisthenics lends itself as a motivating tool for training for many reasons. <\/p><h3 class=\"\">#1. Give Your Clients Very Specific Goals<\/h3><p>First, it\u2019s driven by goals with a specific outcome (i.e. achieving a calisthenics movement). Training towards&nbsp;specific outcomes,&nbsp;rather than goals that seem ever-present (e.g. to <a href=\"http:\/\/makeyourbodywork.com\/how-to-lose-10-pounds-fast\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">lose weight<\/a> or to simply \"get fit\"), can help motivate clients because&nbsp;they can see a light at the end of the tunnel. This focus on function instead of aesthetics can really help promote <a href=\"http:\/\/allwomenstalk.com\/best-body-image-blogs\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">healthy body image<\/a> amongst your clients.<\/p><div style=\"width: 330px\" class=\"thrv_wrapper tve_image_caption aligncenter img_style_lifted_style2\">\n<span class=\"tve_image_frame\">\n<img class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"David Jackson\" style=\"width: 330px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.totalcoaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Total-coaching-head-shot.jpeg\" width=\"330\" height=\"275\">\n<\/span>\n<\/div><p class=\"tve_p_center\"><em>The body you create with&nbsp;calisthenics training is a byproduct, not your end goal.<\/em><\/p><p>The disappointing reality is that people are rarely happy with how they look. Some of this is just human nature, while some <a href=\"http:\/\/science.howstuffworks.com\/life\/inside-the-mind\/human-brain\/body-dysmorphic-disorder.htm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">body dysmorphia<\/a> is created by the bombardment we face from media images and messages we're subjected to each day. <\/p><p class=\"bold_text\" style=\"margin-bottom: 30px !important;\"><span style=\"background-color: rgb(239, 232, 88);\">At the <a href=\"http:\/\/schoolofcalisthenics.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">School of Calisthenics<\/a>, our mantra states, \"You\u2019ll look good and feel great as a by-product of training hard to achieve your calisthenics movement goals.\"<\/span><\/p><h3 class=\"\">#2. Teach Your Clients Something New<\/h3><p>Second, there is a huge \u2018skill\u2019 or \u2018muscular-neuro patterning\u2019 aspect to learning calisthenics. <span class=\"bold_text\">L<\/span><span class=\"bold_text\">earning something completely new provides your clients with&nbsp;some easy wins, and these wins can come much more quickly than a 5-pound decrease on the scale may appear!<\/span><\/p><p>From one session to the next, or even during the same session, your clients can actually see huge improvements. Rarely do we do this. <a href=\"https:\/\/psmag.com\/the-psychological-case-for-adult-play-time-701755406fee#.m7ayk9hjm\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Adults don't take time to play<\/a>. I've found that my clients really appreciate the playfulness of calisthenics - it's fun!<\/p><div style=\"width: 598px\" class=\"thrv_wrapper tve_image_caption img_style_lifted_style2\">\n<span class=\"tve_image_frame\">\n<img class=\"tve_image\" alt=\"Rings\" style=\"width: 598px\" src=\"http:\/\/www.totalcoaching.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/DSC_0327.jpeg\" width=\"598\" height=\"399\">\n<\/span>\n<\/div><p class=\"tve_p_center\"><em>Learning a new calisthenics movement is just plain fun!<\/em><\/p><h3 class=\"\">#3. Have More Fun with Your Clients<\/h3><p>The \"fun aspect\" of training is vitally important when you\u2019re working with clients who struggle to stay motivated.&nbsp;<\/p><p>It's different if you're working with professional athletes, who are motivated to improve their performance on the field or in the game.
